Mobile augmented reality
A joint article by myself, Stefaan Ternier and Marcus Specht has just been published in the Journal of the Research Center for Educational Technology (JRCET). The full paper is available under Open Access and covers a first inventory of mobile augmented reality (mAR).
OER keynote
I have been invited to give a keynote on Open Educational Resources (OERs) at the Austrian Expert Meeting on OERs in Graz in May 2011. It has been organised by the Interuniversitäre Initiative für Neue Medien Graz. More about the event on their website. The title of my talk is: OERs and the university: institutional aspects of openness.
Book Chapter
Together with my colleagues Hendrik Drachsler and Wendy Kicken, I produced a book chapter on how to build learning networks for personal knowledge development. It has been written in a more guidance style in order to enable people to take direct advantage of it. Let's hope it will be useful to many.
Sardis
We submitted a new EU project proposal in the ICT Infrastructure call, on Storage and Retrieval Data Infrastructure for Scientists (SARDIS). The project is aiming at developing semi-automated data gathering and reusage solutions for laboratory based Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry). It should make it easier for scientists to collect experimental data using a variety of mobile or stationary sensors and input systems. A computer-supported infrastructure will also allow for more standardised approaches to experiments, better shared use of labtools and resources, and better reproduction possibilities of experiment installations.

I've been asked to join the Programme Committee for the K-Team conference on Semantic and Collaborative Technologies for the Web. This conference takes place 21-22 June 2011 in Bucharest, Romania.
