Associate Professor for New Media Technologies and Knowledge Innovation planning and running large scale European RTD projects in learning technology and technology enhanced learning (TEL). Managing large distributed scientific research teams. Coordinating research, development, evaluation and dissemination activities.

 

 
2005 - 2007 University of Klagenfurt Head of e-Learning planning and managing the implementation of technology enhanced learning in the curricular processes. System Administrator and User Support for the virtual learning environments and developing the online pedagogy. Manager of the e-Learning Strategy project to institutionalise and embed e-learning in the university.

 
2000 - 2005 UHI Millennium Institute Head of e-Learning planning and managing the delivery strategies and information systems of the UHI academic network and Learning Centres. Looking after the virtual learning environments and developing the online pedagogy.

UHI representative at the Council of the University of the Arctic and Chair of the Arctic Learning Environment Strategic Planning Group. Head of the UK fund-raising group of UArctic. Member of the Editorial Board

Until summer 2002, Cisco Senior Research Fellow and Head of the Scottish Centre for Information Research leading a research team in "Network Learning and Skills".

 
1998 - 2000 University of Southampton Projects' Co-ordinator at the School of Modern Languages looking after a BT-funded transnational project. Other projects were funded under HEFCE's FDTL and TLTP3 programmes. More about these projects can be found on the project pages.

 
1995 - 1998 Trinity College Carmarthen At TCC, I held the position of Research Officer in the Centre for Bilingual Studies, where I worked on a European Union funded socio-linguistic research project.

In 1996, I became a Project Director leading a team of six researchers to compile a substantial German-Welsh dictionary.

 
1993 - 1995 University of Wales, Lampeter Lecturing in German. At the same time I was writing my thesis and developed computer assisted language learning material.

 
1991 - 1993 University of Wales, Aberystwyth

Returning to Wales as MA graduate to teach German in the Department of European Languages.

 
1990 - 1991 University of Debrecen, Hungary

This was my first job at a university. Sent by the Austrian Government to lecture in German Studies.

Scholarship from the Austrian government to study in Wales.

 
1986 - 1987 IBM Austria I took a year out studying to work for IBM Austria as a systems operator . During this year, I acquired much of my IT background, although computers have changed much since then.
